| worked as a firefighter and emergency medical technician. This was in part how
I paid for college while attending the University of Maryland and learning a bit or two about
the firefighting business. I graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection
Engineering.
January 1980 thru October 1985 I worked for the Atlantic Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command in Norfolk Virginia. This was an exciting time
to be part of President Reagan's 600 ships Navy program. As a staff fire protection engineer we worked in a wide variety of buildings ranging from day care facilities to hardened aircraft shelters.
Our work took us to 5 states and outside of the USA to Puerto Rico, Panama, Newfoundland, Cuba, Caribbean Islands, Europe, Iceland, North Africa, and the Mid East.
The travel was great while single but I needed a more grounded environment for starting a family. In November 1985 I started back in P&J Sprinkler
Company Inc. as a Vice President expanding our design build services with my background as a licensed Professional Engineer in Connecticut and Virginia.. In June 2001 I took over the business from
Paul and officially started the next generation.
